Sejong University’s Professor Mugahed A. Al-antari is driving innovation in medical artificial intelligence by developing systems that improve diagnostic accuracy and clinical trust. As head of the Artificial Intelligence Systems and Science Lab (AISSLab), he focuses on AI-powered medical imaging solutions that support doctors with reliable, evidence-based insights.
His team has developed advanced frameworks such as MedXRay-CAD for chest X-ray analysis and AutoSpineAI for 3D MRI-based spinal diagnosis. These systems combine visual data with structured reasoning to generate accurate and interpretable clinical reports. Their work has earned global recognition, including the Best Workshop Paper Award at MICCAI 2025.
A key focus of Professor Al-antari’s research is reducing AI hallucinations. By integrating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and knowledge graph-based reasoning, his systems ensure outputs are grounded in verifiable clinical evidence, enhancing both reliability and transparency.
He is also advancing open science by releasing large-scale medical datasets and code, encouraging global collaboration and faster innovation in healthcare AI. Through partnerships with clinicians in Korea and Turkey, his team continues to develop practical tools that can be trusted in real hospital settings.
